Ms. Rasha Abouelazm (present)
Rasha is the interim Regional Programme Manager at the UN Women Regional Office for Arab States. She leads the Men and Women for Gender Equality Programme, which aims at addressing the root causes of gender inequality with a strong focus on masculinity and engaging men and boys in achieving gender equality. Rasha is an economist with an MSc Degree in Development and Planning from the University College London. Her professional experience consists of 22 years of solid experience in the field of development, primarily focusing on gender equality and women empowerment, in addition to governance, civil society, youths, policy dialogue, partnerships, contributions to UN strategies, joint UN programming, and leading on the design and implementation of prominent advocacy campaigns in Egypt and the region. Prior to joining UNWOMEN, she has assumed management roles at UNDP, UNESCO, the Dutch bilateral cooperation and the Ministry of Environment in Egypt.
