Sonja Lokar, feminist leader, former Member of Parliament and former Executive Director of the CEE Network for Gender Issues, Slovenia
Sonja Lokar is a sociologist and a specialist in political party development, social welfare state issues, and gender issues. Since her youth, she has been a feminist activist and advocate for women’s rights in Slovenia and internationally. She served as Member of Parliament in in Slovenia, the Executive Director of the CEE Network for Gender Issues, and the Founder and Chair of the Stability Pact Gender Task Force. As president of the European Women’s Lobby, she worked across the European Union on women’s issues and the political empowerment of women. Ms. Lokar has published more than 300 articles in the Slovene, Croat, English, French and German languages.
